have to meet about the music?

3. If I decide to have another musician, do I have to
hire them separately?
4. Can you play Pachelbel’s Canon in D?
5. Do you play the traditional wedding marches? What
are the traditional wedding marches?
6. I really don’t like the traditional wedding
marches. Can you do something else?
7. I really wanted to walk down the aisle to the sound
of the organ in our church. Is that OK with you?
8. The organist at my church can’t play a particular
song. If I hire you can you play these things?
9. We have a special song we’d like to have played
and I don’t see it on your CD.
10. There is a special hymn from our church we’d
like to have played during the ceremony. Can you play it?
11. My aunt/mother/uncle/sister/friend would like to
sing at the ceremony. Is that OK?
12. What do you wear?
13. Where can I hear you play?
1. I live out of state do we have to meet about the
music?
No, I don’t usually meet in person about the music. I have a demo CD
which walks you through the music for the ceremony. There is more music on
this CD than I could ever go over in a one hour meeting. You can listen over
and over at your convenience. This also allows you to pass the music around
and include other members of the family in the music choices.
2. Do you come to the rehearsal?
No, the rehearsal is the time for you and the wedding party to learn when
to move and where you should be standing for different portions of the ceremony.
The music is unnecessary for the rehearsal and will never be the same twice.
I have many years of experience and a few questions about any last minute
details can be handled on the day.
3. If I decide to have another
musician, do I have to hire them separately?
No, I work with the finest musicians in the area. If you decide to add another
musician, such as flute, I will simply modify the contract to reflect your
wishes and take care of the rest.
4. Can you play Pachelbel’s
Canon in D?
Of Course! It makes a great Processional or can be included in the Prelude
or Postlude music.
5. Do you play the traditional
wedding marches? What are the traditional wedding marches?
Yes, I can play all of the traditional marches. As processional these are
Trumpet Voluntary for the bridesmaids, the Bridal Chorus (“Here comes
the bride”) for the bride and Mendelssohn’s Wedding March for
the recessional.
6. I really don’t like
the traditional wedding marches. Can you do something else?
Yes, I have many alternative wedding marches on my demoCD from which you may
choose. You may also have an idea for a special song you would like to have
accompany you down the aisle.
7. I really wanted to walk
down the aisle to the sound of the organ in our church. Is that OK with you?
Certainly, I’ve played many weddings where the church organist plays
for any part of or all of the processional and recessional.
8. The organist at my church
can’t play a particular song. If I hire you can you play these things?
Yes, I may be able to play them, but the reason
your organist refuses may not be his choice. Many churches have rules about
what can or cannot be played in the church. It is your responsibility
to check with your clergyman as to what is appropriate in the church. For
example, some churches will not allow any popular music during the ceremony
and others do not allow the music of Wagner (the Bridal Chorus) or Mendelssohn
(Wedding March) to be played.
9. We have a special song we’d
like to have played and I don’t see it on your CD.
If you have a special request please just ask. My CD
does not have every song I’ve ever played. I may have played your favorite
pop song before. If not, I ask that you provide me with the piano sheet music
and I will try to make an arrangement. Not every song is suitable on the harp.
10. There
is a special hymn from our church we’d like to have played during the
ceremony. Can you play it?
Probably, just as with the pop songs I ask that you provide a piano or organ
copy of the music and I will try to make an arrangement for the harp.
11. My aunt/mother/uncle/sister/friend
would like to sing at the ceremony. Is that OK?
Surely, this is your special day. Sometimes your special singer may be more
comfortable singing with a karaoke-type recording. They have been able to
practice with it at home many times. However, I would also be willing to accompany
someone if you can provide me with the music.
12. What do
you wear?
The musicians I work with and I have been playing for formal events for years
and will wear appropriate clothing. We can’t possibly match every brides’
chosen colors but if you would like us to wear a formal ‘concert black’
we would be happy to oblige.
13. Where
can I hear you play?
You can hear some short samples on the music
sample page. If you would like to hear many more musical selections, please
email your mailing address, and I'll
send out a CD. Most of my professional engagements are not open to the public,
but from time to time I may be performing in a public venue. If you would
like to hear me perform in person, please email
me for my upcoming schedule.
