Please Don’t Talk About Me When I’m Gone
Here’s a tune from a faculty recital I did at Bowling Green State University on April 7, 2015. Jeff Halsey on bass and Roger Schupp on drums. The guitar is a 7-string Benedetto Bravo.
These videos are intended to demonstrate the types of musical selections that I generally play. These are all solo guitar or duo with a vocalist. More instruments could be added (usually bass, then drums, but other instruments could be added as well). This provides a fuller sound (more suitable for dancing or a larger club), and more variety in the repertoire. The guitar I’m using is a custom nylon string 7-string, made by Gary Zimnicki.
“American Songbook” Standards
Here’s a demo video of some very well known “American Songbook” Standards. My repertoire includes hundreds of songs like this. Composers include Gershwin, Cole Porter, Ellington, etc.
Music by J.S. Bach
These selections are all by J.S. Bach. If left to my own devices, this music is typical of what I would play for a wedding prelude/postlude.
Spanish & South American Music
Here is a variety of Spanish and South American pieces for solo guitar. Composers include Tarrega, Villa-Lobos, & Lauro. I like to mix these in with standards on my solo gigs for added variety.
Lori Lefevre with Chris Buzzelli
Lori and I have worked many gigs together over the years. Mostly we work as a duo, but she also sounds great fronting a full band.
Maria (Fricano) DiPietro with Chris Buzzelli
I met Maria when she was just out of high school, but she’s a real pro now. We’ve been working together quite a bit recently.
Denny Kopp Guitar Demo
This is a demo video I did of this beautiful guitar recently completed by my friend Denny Kopp. The model is a 17″ Bellaneu 7-String. The recording was done with four mics: one close to the guitar, two farther away to capture the room sound, and one on an amp. The amp mic was used very little as we were trying to capture the acoustic sound of the instrument.
Steppin’ in It
This Coltrane inspired original is on the CD “I Can Pick My Friends”. Featuring Russ Schmidt on piano, Jeff Halsey on bass and Roger Schupp on drums.
